After an outstanding season that saw us rack up success stories including community centre refurbs, healthcare renovations, office change-of-use and training centre fit-outs, McCarrick Construction has continued to win further contracts and is now entering an exciting new chapter. The challenge ahead is bigger, the competition is stronger, and as a result we're looking for an additional Project Manager to help us continue our upward journey."

We're looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable project manager who performs best in a successful construction environment and who will help us compete in a higher league. You'll join an ambitious team determined to build on our 73-year record of success and further cement our position among the region's most respected and reliable contractors.

What We Offer

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to lead an interesting variety of 150k-1.5M construction packages and play a key role in delivering high-quality, safe, and successful projects which will be enjoyed by countless people across the North East for years to come. All our work is local to the North East and we have a steady pipeline of work from county council frameworks and NEPO, various education boards and a lot of repeat custom from healthcare, schools and commercial clients.

Being an SME, we are flexible and can offer excellent career progression if the opportunities available are of interest to the successful candidate. We have a low staff turnover rate which reflects our culture of rewarding effort and paying well. On passing a probationary period the candidate will be offered a suitable company vehicle and a generous pension scheme, as well as private health insurance. We run one or two staff social events during the year and hope the new Project Manager will join in with these alongside all the site and management staff especially at Christmas when partners are also welcome.

Your role

You will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering your designated projects safely, on time, and within budget, working productively with clients, our longstanding subcontractors and our internal teams to ensure projects run smoothly and meet quality standards. Your ideas on how we can continually improve our processes will be welcomed.

Key Responsibilities

Create project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource plans
Manage and oversee day-to-day construction activities on site and provide support and advice for your Site Manager, helping them to manage effectively
Review designs and support site planning processes
Track project progress and update schedules when needed to meet deadlines
Manage purchasing, tendering, and contract negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors.
Communicate regularly with clients, architects, engineers, and contractors
Identify and resolve project issues quickly and effectively
Ensure all work complies with health and safety requirements
Prepare project reports and updates for management and clients
Be able to manage multiple projects and priorities efficiently when needed

Skills and Experience Required

Proven experience managing construction projects successfully
Strong knowledge of project planning and scheduling
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams and subcontractors
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
