Do you work in research planning, approvals, set-up, or management and believe digital services can make these processes simpler, faster, and more connected? Are you excited by the idea of shaping tools that help researchers collaborate and deliver studies people can trust? If so, we want to hear from you.

About the role

As a Product Owner, you'll lead agile teams to design and build digital products that support research regulation and approval systems across the UK. You'll also lead on specific areas that support product delivery. This role sits within our Research System Programme-a fast-paced, iterative digital transformation programme developing services that will replace legacy systems.

The programme aims to:
Connect processes for health and social care research in the UK

Make the UK a great place to do research that people can trust

Enable collaboration to plan, approve, set up, manage, and complete research.

You'll work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure our services are inclusive, accessible, and impactful.

You’ll be responsible for:
Leading agile delivery teams
Translating user needs and business goals into deliverable outcomes
Leading on activities to support product delivery
Driving continuous improvement and innovation across products
Building strong relationships with stakeholders across the research ecosystem

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for someone with:
Extensive knowledge of UK research regulation and health/social care research systems
Strong analytical, strategic planning, and communication skills
A collaborative mindset and ability to lead and coach others
Resilience and adaptability in a fast-paced agile environment
A commitment to inclusivity, accessibility, and continuous learning

Experience in agile product development would be an advantage, but onboarding and training will be provided.

Digital Directorate
This role sits within HRA Digital. The HRA Digital directorate is responsible for developing, delivering and supporting complex solutions within the HRA’s portfolio or national information systems for health research. This includes a major programme to build a new Integrated Research Application and Workflow system and to achieve the successful migration and eventual closure of current systems (IRAS and HARP).

The HRA Digital team is a collaborative, supportive team consisting of HRA employees, secondees, contractors and vendors.
