We are recruiting a Private Client Paralegal to join our team based in our Faversham office. The role will be client facing and will be working with the Head of Department and Vice President of the Kent Law Society. The successful candidate will have experience in drafting Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Probate. Key responsibilities include drafting and preparing legal documents and correspondence, collating and reviewing client information, and maintaining accurate case files and case management systems. The role involves regular client contact, managing telephone and email enquiries and providing clear updates on case progress.
The successful candidate will also liaise with third parties such as financial institutions and the Probate Registry, assist with compliance and file-opening procedures, and contribute to team-based initiatives and business development activities where required.
Experience
- Strong foundation in Law with experience in private client work (wills, probate, powers of attorney).
- Proficiency in Legal Document Preparation, including drafting wills, powers of attorney, probate forms, and standard client correspondence.
- Skilled in Document Review, with the ability to identify issues, verify accuracy, and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Effective Communication skills, including clear written communication, confident client-facing skills, and professional telephone and email etiquette.
- Solid Research abilities to support fee earners with case law, statutory provisions, and procedural requirements in private client matters.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple files and meet deadlines in a busy office environment.
- Comfort with legal case management systems and standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office); ability to adapt to new digital tools.
- Previous experience in a private client or general practice department within a law firm is desirable; relevant legal qualifications (e.g., law degree, LPC, CILEx, or equivalent experience) are an advantage.
- Demonstrated commitment to client care, attention to detail, confidentiality, and working collaboratively within a supportive team.
