Job Title: Assistant Centre Manager
Based at: Sanderson Arcade, Morpeth
Position reports to: Centre Manager and Operations Director
Contract: 4 days per week
Core hours: 8.30am – 4.30pm
Working on a rota basis, covering weekends and bank holidays where required.
Salary: TBC
Holiday entitlement: 28 days, pro rata
The role will be based at Sanderson Arcade shopping centre in Morpeth, working closely with the Centre Manager and Operations Director.
Sanderson Arcade is a well-established shopping destination in the heart of Morpeth, home to a mix of national retailers, independent stores, restaurants, coffee houses and key services. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting the day-to-day management of the centre, helping to deliver events, supporting Morpeth Markets, building strong relationships with tenants and creating engaging social media content to promote the centre and drive footfall.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Take a lead role in creating regular, engaging social media content for Sanderson Arcade, including retailer updates, events, market days, offers, seasonal campaigns and general centre activity.
Generate fresh ideas for social media campaigns, reels, stories and posts, keeping up to date with current trends and ensuring content feels relevant, local and engaging.
Work closely with retailers to gather content, promote new products, offers and in-store events, and help drive footfall and conversion.
Support the planning, organisation and delivery of events at Sanderson Arcade.
Assist with Morpeth Markets, including the Wednesday Weekly Market and Monthly Farmers Market, working with traders and supporting the smooth running and promotion of market activity.
Help attract new traders and support bookings, market administration, invoicing and payments.
Build strong relationships with traders, retailers, local stakeholders and community partners.
Support the delivery of seasonal events, family activities, entertainment and promotional campaigns.
Analyse events, markets and marketing campaigns afterwards, providing clear recommendations and suggestions for improvement.
Help achieve sponsorship and commercial opportunities, measured by agreed KPIs.
Ensure the Sanderson Arcade website is kept updated with relevant information, including events, retailer offers, news and market activity.
Help create a welcoming atmosphere across the centre through events, entertainment, visual presentation and customer engagement.
Introduce creative ideas to enhance the customer experience and promote Sanderson Arcade as part of Morpeth’s wider town centre offer.
Support local tourism, staycation and coach visitor opportunities through creative marketing and local partnerships.
Centre Operations:
Carry out daily administration tasks, including dealing with customer calls, emails and enquiries.
Liaise with tenants and assist with store enquiries, helping to resolve issues efficiently and professionally.
Support the Centre Manager with general day-to-day centre duties.
Ensure SSOW and Health & Safety procedures are kept up to date and followed, maintaining a safe working and shopping environment.
Complete centre reports, including accurate data analysis, footfall information and recommendations to help increase visits and dwell time.
Coordinate and take part in retailer meetings.
Assist with staff management, training and rotas where required.
Order supplies, uniforms and other centre requirements as needed.
Support green initiatives and charity fundraising activity across the centre.
Help drive ancillary income and new commercial initiatives, including bookings, invoicing and credit control.
Deal with parking enquiries and provide excellent customer service.
Ensure the centre is clean, tidy, well-presented and welcoming at all times.
Support with general administration across the centre.
The candidate will be required to work weekends and be flexible to work early mornings and late evenings when required for events, markets and centre activity.
The role requires someone who is confident working independently, while also working closely with the Centre Manager, tenants, traders and the wider Dransfield Properties team.
The ideal candidate will be organised, proactive, creative and confident using social media. They should enjoy working with people, building relationships and being part of a busy town centre environment.
