About Liberty Group

Liberty Group is a fast-growing, multi-division business operating across roofing, renewables, training, specialist construction, and support services throughout the UK.

Due to continued growth, we are looking for an ambitious and driven Assistant Management Accountant to join our finance team in Wigan. This role offers genuine progression opportunities and is ideal for someone looking to build a long-term career within management accounting.

Working within a fast-paced and growing business environment, you will gain exposure across multiple group companies while supporting financial performance and helping drive business decisions through accurate reporting and analysis.

The Role

Working closely with the senior finance team, you will support the production of management accounts and financial reporting across multiple group businesses.

Key Responsibilities

Assisting with monthly management accounts preparation
Sales ledger, purchase ledger and credit control support
Managing and supporting credit control processes, including chasing outstanding debt and maintaining healthy cash flow
Building relationships with customers and internal teams to resolve invoice and payment queries
Bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations
Processing journals, accruals and prepayments
Supporting month-end processes
Assisting with VAT returns and statutory reporting
Financial analysis and variance reporting
Supporting budgeting and forecasting activities
Supporting payroll, CIS and subcontractor reconciliations
Assisting with audit preparation
Maintaining accurate financial records across multiple companies
Producing KPI and financial performance reports
Supporting continuous improvement of finance systems and processes

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

AAT qualified / studying towards Association of Accounting Technicians, ACCA or CIMA (or willing to study)
Experienced within an accounts or finance environment
Strong numerically with excellent attention to detail
Proficient in Excel and financial systems
Organised and capable of managing multiple priorities
A confident communicator who can work with operational teams
Construction industry experience desirable but not essential
Eligible to work in the UK
Motivated, ambitious and looking for long-term career development
