We are now looking for a proactive and reliable Hygiene Team Leader to join our Night Hygiene Team and help maintain the high standards that underpin our reputation for quality.
Role Purpose
You will lead and work alongside the hygiene team to ensure all production areas, equipment and machinery are cleaned to the required food‑safety and factory standards. Your work ensures our production lines are safe, compliant, and ready for the next scheduled run, helping minimise downtime and maintain efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Organise, support and lead the night hygiene team.
- Complete full clean‑downs of production areas and machinery after each run.
- Operate CIP (Clean‑in‑Place) automated cleaning systems for internal machine and pipework cleaning.
- Disassemble and reassemble machinery to enable effective cleaning.
- Carry out chemical cleaning of equipment, floors, and factory areas in line with COSHH requirements.
- Ensure all hygiene paperwork and records are completed accurately and on time.
- Train new starters and upskill existing team members in new hygiene practices.
- Remove waste from production areas and maintain a clean, safe working environment.
- Ensure changing areas and hygiene stations are set up and ready for the production shift.
- Handle cleaning chemicals safely and ensure correct PPE is worn at all times.
- Promote and uphold the company culture and values within the team.
About You
- Experience in food manufacturing or a hygiene‑related role is desirable, but full training will be provided.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety.
- Able to lead by example and support a small, hands‑on team.
- Reliable, organised, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced production environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Food Safety Level 2 / Food Safety Level 3
- COSHH awareness
- Manual handling and basic health & safety training
- Good communication and record‑keeping skills
- COSHH or chemical‑handling certificates
- HACCP or allergen‑awareness training
- Experience with CIP systems
- Supervisory or leadership training
- BRCGS or audit‑related training
Shift & Pay
- Shift: 20:00–04:00
- Shift Premium: £5 per shift
- Overtime: Paid at 1.5× basic hourly rate after 37.5 hours
- Holiday: 28 days including bank holidays
- Enhanced Holiday Pay: Based on average earnings over the previous 52 weeks, including overtime
- Retention Bonus: £300 after 3 months of successful employment (subject to terms)
