We are seeking an experienced full-time Installer / Fitter to join our growing team and play a hands-on role in the installation of mechanical and process equipment across wastewater treatment sites. The majority of projects will be based throughout the South West of England, although additional travel may occasionally be required depending on project locations and operational needs. This permanent position is ideal for an experienced and motivated individual with a strong background in mechanical installation, fitting, or engineering environments. While experience within the wastewater industry is beneficial, it is not essential - we welcome applicants from a wide range of engineering, industrial, manufacturing, utilities, or process-based sectors. The role involves working onsite to install, fit, and commission a variety of mechanical and electromechanical equipment, ensuring safe and efficient project delivery. There is plenty of opportunity to learn on the job, develop your technical skills, and grow with the business. As the company continues to expand, there will also be opportunities to support projects in wider regions outside of the South West.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out mechanical installation and commissioning of equipment in accordance with project specifications.
- Lead and coordinate on-site installation activities, working independently or alongside internal teams, subcontractors, and clients.
- Support machinery testing and commissioning processes to ensure reliable operational performance.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues during and after installation to maintain high standards of workmanship and customer service.
- Adhere strictly to all site-specific health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Prepare and complete required documentation, including service records and handover reports.
- Assist with workshop organisation, logistics coordination, and ensuring all installation preparations are completed efficiently.
- Manage inventory of materials and confirm all components are available and in suitable condition prior to installation works.
Requirements:
- Proven experience with mechanical installations or fitting, ideally gained in industrial settings - experience within the wastewater industry is advantageous but not essential.
- Good knowledge of pumps, motors, pipework, valves, and related mechanical systems.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and follow installation plans.
- Ability to take the lead in the organisation of workshops, including coordinating logistics and ensuring all preparations are in place.
- Responsible for managing inventory of materials and confirming all components are available and in proper condition.
- Ensure everything is in order prior to installation to support a smooth and efficient process.
- Valid CSCS card or equivalent (preferred)
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel as required.
- Self-driven, well-organised, and confident in leading onsite work, as well as managing clients.
What’s Offered:
- Competitive salary based on experience.
- Full-time, permanent role with long-term stability.
- Tools and PPE provided (or allowance).
- Paid holidays and pension scheme.
- Ongoing training and development opportunities.
- A varied and rewarding role working on critical infrastructure and engineering projects.
- Opportunity to help shape and grow the installation side of the business as the company expands.
- Supportive environment that encourages learning on the job, career progression, and leadership development through hands-on experience.
