Established in 1953, Karenswood (International) Ltd is a leading International Organisation specialising in the training and operational deployment of dogs for Police, Customs, Search & Rescue and Defence Forces across the world. In addition to this, Karenswood offers kennel accommodation for all breeds of dog of every temperament, as well as grooming, training and equipment. Given the wide-ranging services the company delivers, a career with Karenswood could be varied and fulfilling.

Kennel Assistant Responsibilities

All aspects of dog care and general duties pertaining to the care and welfare of dogs.
Participate in training to become knowledgeable in the matter of the understanding / application of canine psychology.
Work in all weather conditions and carry out physical tasks required when dealing with any dog breed and temperament.
Cleaning kennel areas to maintain a hygienic and presentable environment.
Polite and clear communication with colleagues and customers – offering a high level of customer service.
Ensuring that dogs are groomed to the required standards, including clipping, scissor trimming, nail cutting etc.

Kennel Assistant Requirements

A genuine interest in the professional training and care of both working and pet dogs.
Experience and confidence with dogs of all temperaments must be demonstrated either through professional experience or with your own pet dogs.
A driving licence is preferable due to the location.
Although qualifications are not mandatory, experience in pet grooming, customer service, heavy lifting, kennel work, or pet sitting are beneficial.
Physical fitness is a MUST as the role is physically demanding.

Working days will be Tuesday - Saturday inclusive, with Sunday & Monday off.

Working hours are 8am - 5.30pm, including a total of 1.5 hours unpaid break.

Salary starts at National Minimum Wage but is likely to increase as experience and responsibilities increase.
