Stage 1: Sift
At sift, you will be assessed against the following Success Profile elements:
Experience you will be asked to provide a CV (unlimited wordcount) and personal statement (750-word count). Please provide evidence of your Experience of the following:

Knowledge of work of classification societies: Demonstrate technical and professional competency in survey, audit, and inspection activities, with a strong understanding of IACS and Classification Society processes.

Qualifications & Breadth of Experience: Confirm qualifications equivalent to a Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA) Senior Surveyors and five years experience as a Marine Surveyor, demonstrating the technical competency levels required for complex decision-making.

Technical Advice: Provide examples of acting as a source of detailed technical advice about difficult and/or complex situations demonstrating your technical competency levels. Areas of technical competency are detailed in MCA document MSF 4989 which forms part of the Marine Surveyor Development Scheme (MSDS).

Experience in working in the marine industry in a capacity that develops and broadens the knowledge gained. It is expected that the marine industry experience is in a field closely related to the work of MCA Surveyors.

Stage 2: Interview and presentation
At interview stage, you will be assessed against the following Success Profile elements:

You will also be required to create and deliver a presentation to assess 'Experience: Demonstrable technical and professional competency in the primary area of effective oversight of Recognised Organisations (RO), Certifying Authorities (CA), and providing technical policy and decisions on RO and CA policies'. Guidance will be provided if you are invited to interview.
The interviews will take place week commencing 20/07/2026.
This interview will be conducted in person at our Southampton Office - Spring Place, 105 Commercial Road, Southampton, SO15 1EG. Further details will be provided to you should you be selected for interview.
