Dental Practice Manager
The Offerton Dental - Stockport
Salary: Competitive + performance-linked potential (DOE)
Hours: Full-time (part-time considered for exceptional candidates) Fixed-term, with performance-related renewals
About The Offerton Dental
The Offerton Dental is a busy, well-established mixed NHS and Private practice with a strong patient base and clear potential for further growth. We are focused on efficiency, performance, compliance, and commercial sustainability - without compromising patient care or team wellbeing.
Due to growth, we are now looking for a commercially minded Dental Practice Manager who enjoys taking ownership, using data to drive decisions, and actively improving how a practice performs.
The Role
This is a leadership and performance-driven role, not an administrative one. You will work closely with the Principal Dentist to optimise NHS delivery, grow private revenue, and run the practice as a high-performing business.
You will be expected to identify opportunities, take initiative, and implement change, rather than wait for instruction.
Key Responsibilities
- Full operational and commercial management of the practice
- Ownership of NHS contract performance, UDA delivery, and efficiency
- Actively driving private treatment growth, conversion rates, and chair utilisation
- Using statistics and KPIs to monitor performance (UDAs, income, expenses, DNA rates, chair time, staff productivity)
- Producing and interpreting reports to support informed decision-making
- Supervise and support dental practice staff, including receptionists, dental nurses, and hygienists
- Leading, managing, and handling human resources responsibilities such as recruitment, training, performance reviews, and staff development
- Recruitment, rotas, appraisals, absence management, and team development
- Implementing systems and processes to improve efficiency and profitability
- Ensuring full compliance with CQC, NHS regulations, HTM, GDPR, and H&S
- Managing patient experience and complaints with a solution-focused approach
- Controlling costs, stock, and supplier relationships
- Supporting marketing activity and private patient journey optimisation
About You
Essential:
- Commercial awareness and confidence working with figures, targets, and reports
- Proactive, decisive, and comfortable taking responsibility
- Strong people-management skills with the ability to challenge constructively
- Organised, analytical, and results-focused
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong management skills with the ability to lead a team effectively
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
Highly Desirable Traits:
- Proven experience as a Dental Practice Manager
- Strong understanding of both NHS and private dentistry
- Enjoys improving systems, workflows, and performance
- Comfortable leading change and managing underperformance
- Business-minded while remaining patient-centred
- Calm, resilient, and confident in a fast-paced environment
- IT-literate (iSmile/SOE/Exact experience advantageous)
What We Offer
- Competitive salary reflecting responsibility and impact
- Genuine autonomy to run and shape the practice
- Supportive but hands-off principal who values initiative
- Opportunity to influence growth, performance, and profitability
- Stable, long-term role in a respected local practice
- Ongoing development and progression for the right individual
This role is ideal for a motivated individual eager to lead a dynamic team in delivering exceptional patient care while ensuring operational excellence.
