About Us

Keystones Partners is a London-headquartered, regulated Money Services Business specialising in cross-border payment facilitation and FX execution between the CEMAC and UEMOA franc zones and the world's principal currencies (EUR, USD, GBP, AED,...). We operate through offices in London, Douala and Abidjan, and are registered as an MSB with FinCEN (US) and FINTRAC (Canada).

About the Role

We are looking for a Back Office Settlement & Accountant to join our Cross-Border Payments team in London on a 6-month internship. This is a hands-on, operational role with real responsibility from day one. You will take ownership of the back office function, covering payment execution, bank reconciliation, accounting reporting and liaison with our external accountants.

You will report directly to the Director and work closely with our trading, compliance and relationship management teams across London, Douala and Abidjan.

Responsibilities

Settlement & Operations
— Execute local and international client payments following validation by the Director.
— Process and settle operational invoices.
— Carry out pre-settlement checks: beneficiary details, amounts, currencies, references and consistency with instructions.
— Investigate and resolve payment incidents including rejected payments, fund returns and reference discrepancies.

Reconciliation
— Perform systematic reconciliation on every transfer and ahead of every settlement.
— Conduct daily bank reconciliation across all currencies, matching bank statements to internal records.
— Identify and resolve discrepancies between bank statements and internal tracking.

Accounting & Reporting
— Produce the monthly P&L with detailed breakdown of spreads, bank fees, operational expenses and partner commissions.
— Prepare own funds reporting for Management and regulatory purposes.
— Track operational expenses against budget.
— Liaise with the external accounting firm for monthly pack transmission, support on monthly and annual closings, and preparation of audit documentation.

Requirements

— Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
— Good numeracy skills and confidence working with figures across multiple currencies.
— Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
— Good written and verbal communication skills, particularly in a professional and international context.
— Ability to learn quickly and work with increasing autonomy over time.
— A proactive and organised mindset, comfortable working in a small, fast-paced team.
— Fluency in English required; French is a strong advantage.

Desirable

— Previous exposure to payments, treasury operations, back office or accounting functions.
— Familiarity with bank reconciliation processes.
— Interest in cross-border finance, African markets or the payments industry.
