We are seeking a motivated and detail oriented Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our growing consultancy practice. The successful candidate will support the quantity surveying department in cost management, estimating, procurement and contract administration across a range of exciting construction projects.

We are open to both part time and full time applicants depending on the candidate’s experience and suitability for the role.
Applicants with an HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, a Quantity Surveying degree, or those recently graduated in a similar construction related qualification are encouraged to apply.
The role is ideal for someone looking to build a strong foundation within a professional consultancy environment while working alongside experienced Chartered Surveyors and construction professionals.
There is genuine opportunity to grow with the business as we continue to expand, with ongoing support and mentoring available towards the successful candidate’s preferred APC and professional development route, including RICS where appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing cost estimates, budgets and financial reports for construction projects
- Support the procurement process by obtaining quotations and analysing tender returns
- Assist with measurement and take offs
- Monitor project expenditure and help identify any cost variances
- Assist with valuations, variations and final accounts preparation
- Maintain accurate records of contractual documents and project correspondence
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, consultants and suppliers to support successful project delivery
- Assist with contract administration and general commercial management duties
- Support the team in identifying commercial risks and contractual issues
- Attend site visits and project meetings where required
- Assist in ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and health & safety requirements
Experience & RequirementsEssential:
- HNC/HND, degree or similar qualification in Quantity Surveying or a construction related field
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Previous experience, placement year or internship within quantity surveying or construction
- Basic understanding of construction cost control and procurement
- Knowledge of JCT contracts and standard construction practices
- Interest in heritage, refurbishment or high end residential projects
- Ambition to work towards professional chartership (RICS or similar)
Previous experience is preferred but not essential, as training and support will be provided for the right candidate.

Pay: From £28,000.00 per year
