Barbers Cheesemakers is the oldest and largest family-owned cheddar makers in the world and produce our award winning cheeses in the same dairy that we did back in 1833!

Summary
We have a vacancy for a Heifer Rearing Unit Assistant to join our team at Barber's due to our continued growth. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting the rearing of our young stock. Ensuring their health and welfare is maintained enabling them to enter the herd or go for sale.
Responsibilities
- Assist in daily checking of young stock in the fields/sheds to ensure that they are in good health and have an adequate supply of food and water.
- Assist with bedding and scrapping tasks
- Assist with all young stock related tasks as directed
- Assist with animal husbandry and welfare tasks as directed
- Maintenance of all machinery and equipment
- Carry out any other work or task determined to be within your level of competence, to meet the needs of the business
- Work within all company policies and procedures, including Health & Safety, Food Safety, Authenticity, Legality and Quality Standards
Training/Qualifications/Skills/Aptitude
- Willingness to learn and work in a young stock environment
- Passionate and a Strong commitment to the job
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Good communication skills and a sense of humour
- Full Driving Licence
- Previous experience in agriculture , livestock or young stock desirable, however training will be provided
- Familiarity with all farming aspects desirable
- Experience of driving a tractor desirable, however training will be provided
Working Hours
40 hours per week Monday - Friday 7:30 - 16:30 (1 hour unpaid break)
