Working Hours: Monday to Friday - 07:00 - 15:00 (37.5h/week) - with potential weekend cover and time in lieu

We are looking for an experienced and driven Engineering Team Leader to provide high-quality engineering support and lead a team in delivering reliable, efficient site performance.
This is a hands-on leadership role focused on maximising equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and driving continuous improvement across site operations. You will play a key part in coordinating engineering activities, supporting production, and developing engineering capability within your team.

Ensure planned preventative maintenance (PPM) is delivered effectively across all plant and equipment

Diagnose and support the resolution of mechanical and electrical faults to minimise downtime

Monitor plant performance and work with Production to improve efficiency and output

Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and implement long-term fixes to recurring issues

Support site projects, installations, and continuous improvement initiatives

Promote a strong culture of health, safety, and compliance across all engineering activities

Ensure all work is carried out in line with safe systems of work and statutory requirements

Act as Permit to Work Controller, ensuring safe and compliant operations

Maintain audit-ready standards, including GMP and housekeeping (5S)

Lead, coach, and motivate a team of engineers to deliver high performance

Allocate tasks effectively based on priority and business needs
-
Conduct performance reviews and support development through training and coaching
-
Manage absence, holidays, and resource planning to ensure adequate cover

Ensure clear communication and effective shift handovers

Monitor KPIs including downtime, PPM compliance, and engineering performance
-
Analyse data to identify trends and drive improvements
-
Support the implementation of lean and operational excellence tools

Identify and deliver cost-saving opportunities across engineering and utilities
-
Ensure accurate recording of work, downtime, and parts usage within CMMS
-
Work closely with Operations to improve productivity and efficiency

Support Operator Asset Care (OAC) programmes

Manage contractors and ensure compliance with site standards

Contribute to site and group projects, including Management of Change processes
Experience & Skills
-
Proven experience in an engineering leadership or supervisory role
-
Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills

Experience within a manufacturing or FMCG environment

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
-
Ability to lead, coach, and develop a team effectively

Good communication and organisational skills
Desirable
-
Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and automated systems

Experience with CMMS, PPM systems, and RCA processes

Food safety knowledge (HACCP, GMP)

Continuous improvement / lean experience
Qualifications

City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in Engineering

Health & Safety Level 2 (minimum)

Additional certifications (e.g. COSHH, Confined Spaces, Ammonia, etc.) beneficial
