Full job description

We are looking for a Despatch Operative to join the team in Salford. This is a key role in the production function and in supporting an efficient and professional service to our clients.

Role and responsibilities:

Pack all final delivery goods with firm materials and the correct label with address and receiver.
Work using both SGK’s own system as well as various shipping company systems.
Make decisions to despatch jobs using the most cost effective, reliable & efficient methods.
To demonstrate good communication skills, commitment, enthusiasm and flexibility.
To work quickly and accurately under pressure.
Control both cardboard & wood recycling in the yard.
Keep a clean & tidy working environment.
Take in deliveries
Take delivery of various stock and put away in the correct places.
Using company vehicles to deliver or collect from local company’s (Dependant on a full UK driving licence).

Skills and experience:

The role does include heavy lifting and a lot of manual handling.
Demonstrate the ability to work as part of a small team while also being self motivated to work alone.
Good computer skills required.
FLT license advantageous but not essential (training will be given)

During the initial training period the hours will be 10am – 6pm. After the initial training the successful applicant will be expected to work alternate shifts of 6:30am – 2:30pm & a flexible shift depending on workload usually the latest finish would be 8pm.
