About the Role
Palmer Brickwork Ltd is looking for an experienced and motivated Working Bricklaying Supervisor / Foreman to join our team on residential housing developments across Norfolk.
This is a hands-on supervisory role suited to an experienced bricklayer with a strong background in NHBC residential construction. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing bricklaying operations on site, maintaining quality standards, ensuring health and safety compliance, coordinating labour, and working closely with site management teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to programme.
The role will also require the successful applicant to assist on the tools and carry out bricklaying and daywork activities when supervisory duties allow.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervising bricklaying gangs on site and ensuring works are carried out safely, efficiently and to programme.
- Carrying out regular quality assurance inspections and plot checks to ensure all work meets company, client and NHBC standards.
- Managing the day-to-day allocation of bricklayers and labour across multiple plots.
- Monitoring attendance, productivity and performance of site operatives.
- Ensuring operatives have the correct drawings, materials, equipment and information required to complete their work.
- Liaising daily with Site Managers, Assistant Site Managers and Contracts Managers.
- Identifying and resolving quality, programme and labour issues before they impact site progress.
- Maintaining a high standard of workmanship across all plots.
- Ensuring all health and safety regulations, site rules and company procedures are adhered to at all times.
- Completing and maintaining all required compliance, quality assurance and site documentation.
- Conducting toolbox talks and promoting a positive health and safety culture.
- Assisting with bricklaying, snagging and daywork activities when required.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a Working Bricklaying Supervisor, Foreman or Lead Bricklayer.
- Strong background working on NHBC residential housing developments.
- Excellent knowledge of current brickwork quality standards and construction practices.
- SSSTS qualification (minimum requirement).
- Valid CSCS Card.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage and motivate site teams while maintaining high standards of workmanship.
Desirable Qualifications
- SMSTS qualification.
- First Aid at Work certification.
- Experience working with major housebuilders and residential developers.
- Experience managing multiple plots and bricklaying gangs simultaneously.
