Full job description

As an Immunotherapy clinical nurse specialist you will be providing expert care, advice, and support to patients and their families/carers undergoing Immunotherapy treatment.

This specialist role Involves developing and delivering a coordinated Immunotherapy service, managing patient toxicities.

Patient education and working with oncology colleagues to develop the evolving service.

Developing the immunotherapy service and associated policies.

Managing patient caseload.

To become the subject matter expert on immunotherapy.

To improve patient experience in the specialist area.

To be the lead for immunotherapy education and training.

Demonstrate advanced knowledge, skills, innovative practice in relevant specialist area.

Running immunotherapy clinics. Independent prescribing preferred.

Co-ordination of care.

To develop the immunotherapy service.
To be the lead for immunotherapy management across the Trust.
To be the lead for service development to improve patient experience in the specialist area.
To be the lead for immunotherapy education and training.
To be an expert clinical practitioner, demonstrating advanced clinical competence and autonomy whilst working with the MDT.
Assess, manage, deliver and co-ordinate the plan of care for patients utilising the effective and efficient use of resources.
Demonstrate advanced practice in holistic assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care within their own speciality. This will necessitate high levels of autonomy and advocacy and include receiving direct referrals and ensuring the delivery of appropriate care for a caseload of patients.
Plan and manage own caseload and the workload of the service, in a flexible manner, ensuring that service provision meets the needs of the patients.
Demonstrate advanced knowledge, skills, innovative practice in relevant specialist area. Ensuring a system of nursing documentation, which reflects this advanced practice.
To prescribe, as a qualified Independent Nurse Prescriber, within the scope of own practice.
Demonstrate knowledge of clinical trials relevant to the specialist area.
Identify areas of audit/research with the team, sources of funding and initiate research/audit projects within the team.
Understand and accept the parameters of the role, working within the scope of own practice, agreeing change if needed.
Be confident to refer to other disciplines/professions, knowing the limits of your own clinical expertise and demonstrating a readiness to seek advice in clinical matters as required.
Acts as a source of advice and knowledge for patients, carers and healthcare professionals within and across organisational boundaries.
