Overview

Minimum 2 year experience required.

We are seeking a friendly and efficient Counter Assistant/Waiting Staff to join our team. This role involves providing excellent customer service, assisting with food preparation, and maintaining a clean and organised counter area. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, experience in fish and chip shops, restaurants or kitchen environments, and strong organisational skills. This position offers an opportunity to develop culinary and customer service skills within a dynamic team.

Duties

Serve customers at the counter, taking orders accurately and efficiently
Prepare simple food items in line with health and safety standards
Upsell menu items to maximise sales opportunities
Handle cash transactions and operate the till system with accuracy
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the counter area, including food displays and utensils
Ensure all food safety regulations are adhered to at all times
Provide friendly assistance and answer customer queries promptly
Support kitchen staff during busy periods with basic food preparation tasks
Manage time effectively to ensure smooth service during peak hours

Requirements

Previous experience (2 years) in a restaurant or catering environment is required.
Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures
Basic maths skills for handling cash and transactions accurately
Experience in food preparation or culinary roles
Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively
Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanour
Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy periods
Good time management skills to ensure timely service delivery
