The Role
Devolved responsibility for the local procurement and maintenance of consumables within Maternity & Neonatal as advised by the Business Support Manager in conjunction with NHSL procurement team and local supplies department. Co-ordinating on loan equipment under supervision Business Support Manager. Post holder will regularly work unsupervised but with the wider theatre team available for reference at all times.
Please note this is a fixed term post for 12 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.
In this key role, you will:
Maternity Services within NHS Lanarkshire are provided by one centralised unit in University Hospital Wishaw. There are approximately 4100 births per year delivering care to over 6000 antenatal and postnatal women pan Lanarkshire. The service has early pregnancy, fetal medicine, ultrasound department and satellite day assessment units across UHW, UHM and UHM. The Lanarkshire Maternity service is integrated between the community and hospital settings and the Community Midwifery teams are managed within this service.
The Neonatal Unit is part of the integrated maternity services where the annual birth rate is approximately 4,100. The unit is consultant led providing full neonatal intensive care to approximately 900 inpatients a year.
The Neonatal Unit consists of 29 cots, 8 cot intensive care area, 10 cot area that incorporates high dependency and 11 special care cots. 1 mother and baby room, neonatal community liaison team that provided support at home to parents. There is a 4 bedded transitional care unit in the maternity unit.
What You'll Bring:
Be responsible for the checking, assembly, troubleshooting and safe use of generic and highly specified fragile, expensive equipment to ensure patient and staff safety and infection control.
Prepare all equipment following local protocols/manufacturer’s instructions.
Identify equipment faults and retrieve alternative equipment if required.
Responsible for resolving minor faults and reporting all equipment faults to the manufacturer / medical physics / helpdesk / nurse or ODP in charge.
