The Role

Are you passionate about delivering compassionate, person-centred care to older adults? University Hospital Wishaw is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic healthcare professional to join our medicine of the older adult services.

Our Medicine of the older adult services provide specialist multidisciplinary care for older people living with frailty, focusing on early assessment, rehabilitation, and safe discharge planning whilst applying home first principles. We are proud to offer a supportive and innovative environment where staff are empowered to make a real difference in patients’ lives.

In this key role, you will:

Be able to demonstrate an understanding of the role of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy, clinical reasoning and core therapy skills. They will be able to prioritise and work in a busy and fast-paced environment. Also, demonstrate a self-motivating and dynamic approach. Focus on early intervention and discharge planning is key to timeous discharge. Ideally, the Practitioner will have experience of working within a rehabilitation setting. Duties will include:

working under the supervision of registered therapy staff to assist patients to achieve their rehabilitation goals.
Undertake baseline assessments within clearly defined parameters for the identified service.
Implement, adapt and progress treatment programmes within agreed protocols and defined parameters.
Use specialist technical and practical skills to deliver flexible, patient centred programmes across a variety of clinical settings.
Discharge or transition care within agreed protocols and defined parameters.

The post holder will be supervised by the Specialist Occupational Therapist.

You will be required to comply with the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland throughout your employment. Information on the Healthcare Support Worker Regulations can be found on: https://www.healthworkerstandards.scot.nhs.uk/Documents/codeofConductHealthCareSupport.pdf

What You'll Bring:

HNC in healthcare, education or social cares or SVQ III in healthcare, education or social care or equivalent experience in a health, education or social care environment.
Short specialist courses relevant to specific clinical area.
A driving licence is required; this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
