Health & Safety Advisor/Compliance Manager
Location: Split between two operational sites
Reports to: Operations Director/General Manager

Role Purpose
The Health & Safety Advisor / Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing health, safety, compliance, and training requirements across two sites. The role ensures that all statutory, regulatory, and company compliance obligations are met, documentation is maintained and current, and employees receive the required training to work safely and effectively.
The successful candidate will act as the key point of contact for health and safety matters, driving a proactive safety culture while ensuring both sites remain fully compliant with legal and internal requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Health & Safety Management
- Maintain and continuously improve health and safety systems across both sites
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation, regulations, and company policies
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and workplace assessments
- Review, update, and maintain risk assessments, safe systems of work, and method statements
- Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and non-conformances, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
- Monitor health and safety performance and produce regular reports for management
- Support managers and supervisor in managing workplace safety responsibilities
Compliance Management
- Maintain all compliance documentation and ensure records remain accurate, complete, and up to date
- Manage compliance registers, certifications, permits, licenses, and statutory inspection records
- Coordinate external audits, inspections, and compliance assessments
- Ensure all required documentation is available for internal and external review
- Monitor changes in legislation and industry best practice, advising management on required actions
Training & Competency Management
- Maintain a comprehensive training matrix for both sites
- Monitor training expiry dates and schedule refresher training as required
- Ensure all employees receive mandatory health and safety, compliance, and job-specific training
- Coordinate inductions for new starters, contractors, and visitors
- Liaise with external training providers where necessary
- Maintain accurate training records and provide reports on training compliance levels
Document & Record Keeping
- Maintain electronic and hard-copy health and safety records
- Ensure policies, procedures, risk assessments, and training records are reviewed and updated within required timescales
- Manage document control processes to ensure only current versions are in use
- Prepare compliance reports, KPIs, and management updates
Site Support & Communications
- Split time effectively between both sites to provide visible support and oversight
- Build strong working relationships with managers, supervisors, and employees
- Promote a positive health and safety culture through engagement, coaching, and communication
- Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Training compliance maintained at agreed target levels across both sites
- Risk assessments and safety documentation reviewed within required timescales
- Audit actions completed within agreed deadlines
- Compliance records maintained with no overdue statutory requirements
- Reduction in incidents, near misses, and non-conformances
- Positive audit and inspection outcomes
Skills & Experience
- Experience in a Health & Safety, Compliance, or HSE role
- Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation
- Experience managing compliance documentation and training records
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills
- Ability to prioritise workload across multiple sites
- Strong communication and influencing skills
- Competent in Microsoft Office and document management systems
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites

Pay: £35,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
