Quality Engineer Electromechanical (First Article Inspection Report)

Due to expansion plans and continued growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Quality Engineer to join the Elma Quality team.
Reporting to the Quality Manager the Quality Engineer will work closely with all departments ensuring that products and processes meet qualitative requirements. In addition, the role will be heavily focused on AS9102-C FAIR creation working with production documentation and company systems in providing full traceability reports of bespoke electromechanical designs for customer sign off.
The successful candidate will have working knowledge of AS 9100 series of Standards and ISO9001 standards. They will possess in depth knowledge of AS9102:2024 (Rev C) FAIR creation, demonstrable experience in report writing and have proven experience in both internal and external audits.
Primary Responsibilities:
· AS9102:2024 (Rev C) First Article Inspection Report (FAIR) creation and report writing
· Internal / external QMS Systems Auditing to EN 9100:2018 / ISO9001:2015.
· 8D Problem solving – use of 5 Whys, Ishikawa tools, understanding of kaizen principles.
· Assist QA Team on Inspection and non-conformance process.
· Assist QA and wider Teams on continuous improvement activities and waste reduction.
· APQP /PPAP creation in accordance with AS9145:2018.
· Produce Quality Plans in accordance with AQAP-2105 & AQAP-2110.
· Promote ELMA quality culture “right first time”.
· Deputise for the Quality Manager when required.
Skills Required for role:
· Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
· Excellent standard of report writing and able to use all Microsoft tools.
· Highly organised
· Excellent attention to detail
· Ability to work well under pressure
· Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to identify root causes and recommend corrective and preventative actions in improving product reliability / operational efficiency.
· Able to produce FMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans and familiarity with measurement systems analysis /process capability CP & CPK studies.
· Ability to read engineering drawings, interpret data and diagrams
· Clean driving licence for travel to suppliers for audit and product investigations.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
· IQA or CQI qualifications.
· PERA / IRCA Lead Auditor Training.
· Electrical /Electronic Engineering discipline e.g. HNC/HND/ City & Guilds 224.
· Previous experience in the Aerospace & Defence Industry
· In-depth knowledge of Electromechanical AS9102 FAIR-Rev C FAIR creation is essential.
· Previous experience of delivering APQP / PPAP reports.
· Good standard of secondary education / degree qualified desirable but not essential.
