We are seeking an ambitious, forward-thinking pharmacist to join our senior leadership team as Deputy Superintendent Pharmacist & Pharmacy Services Development Lead. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced pharmacist who wishes to play a key role in shaping the future of community pharmacy while supporting governance, compliance, operational excellence and service growth.
The Role
Working closely with the Superintendent Pharmacist, Directors, Area Managers and Pharmacy Teams, you will provide professional leadership across the organisation, ensuring the highest standards of patient care, governance and regulatory compliance.
You will also lead the development and implementation of NHS and private clinical services, identifying opportunities to increase service delivery, improve patient outcomes and support the continued growth of the business.
Key ResponsibilitiesGovernance & Professional Leadership
- Support the Superintendent Pharmacist in maintaining compliance with GPhC Standards and NHS contractual requirements.
- Assist in the development, review and implementation of SOPs, policies and governance frameworks.
- Lead investigations relating to incidents, complaints and patient safety concerns.
- Support branches through GPhC inspections, NHS visits and regulatory audits.
- Monitor and improve patient safety systems and reporting processes.
- Ensure learning from incidents is embedded across the organisation.
- Provide professional advice and support to pharmacists, technicians and pharmacy teams.
Pharmacy Services Development
- Lead the growth of Pharmacy First, Hypertension Case Finding, Contraception Services, NMS, DMS and other NHS commissioned services.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase service uptake and patient engagement.
- Identify and evaluate opportunities for new NHS and private service provision.
- Support the implementation of Independent Prescribing services across the organisation.
- Drive growth of private services including Weight Management, Travel Health and Vaccination Services.
- Analyse service performance data and implement improvement plans.
- Work collaboratively with GP Practices, Primary Care Networks, ICBs and other healthcare stakeholders.
What We Are Looking ForEssential
- Registered Pharmacist with the GPhC.
- Minimum 5 years post-registration experience.
- Strong understanding of community pharmacy governance and regulatory requirements.
- Experience delivering NHS clinical services.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to analyse performance data and implement improvements.
- Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel between branches.
Desirable
- Independent Prescriber qualification.
- Experience supporting GPhC inspections.
- Experience managing multiple pharmacy sites.
- Experience implementing new clinical services.
- Leadership or management qualification.
- Experience working with commissioners and healthcare stakeholders.
