Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Care Home Activity Coordinator to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will organise and facilitate engaging activities tailored to the needs and interests of residents, promoting social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being. This role is vital in enhancing the quality of life for residents in assisted living and nursing home environments, particularly those requiring specialised dementia and Alzheimer's care. The ideal applicant will possess excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for senior care.
Duties
- Plan, develop, and implement a diverse programme of activities suitable for residents with varying needs, including those with dementia or Alzheimer's.
- Foster an inclusive environment that encourages participation from all residents, respecting individual preferences and abilities.
- Collaborate with care staff to assess residents' interests and capabilities to tailor activities accordingly.
- Lead group activities such as arts and crafts, music sessions, games, and outings that promote socialisation and mental engagement.
- Monitor residents’ responses to activities, adjusting programmes as necessary to maximise enjoyment and participation.
- Maintain accurate records of activities undertaken and resident participation levels.
- Support residents in maintaining their independence through personalised activity plans.
- Ensure all activities are conducted safely, adhering to health and safety regulations.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a residential care home setting is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of senior care principles, including dementia and Alzheimer's care, is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with residents of all cognitive levels.
- Experience in caregiving or activity coordination within a care home environment is preferred.
- Compassionate nature with a genuine interest in enhancing the lives of older adults.
- Organised with the ability to plan ahead while remaining flexible to meet residents’ changing needs.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing exceptional care.
