Full job description

Job Purpose

The CAD Engineer is responsible for creating and maintaining high-quality 3D models, technical drawings, and manufacturing documentation to support production and customer requirements. The role requires strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and a proficiency in Solidworks, Artube, or Trumpf software for design, programming, costing, and production planning activities would be advantageous but not essential.

Key Responsibilities

Create accurate 3D models and accompanying technical drawings using Solidworks.
Produce high-quality engineering drawings in accordance with company and industry standards.
Interpret customer requirements, specifications, and production documentation to develop suitable manufacturing solutions.
Program jobs within Artube & Trumpf softwares to support efficient production processes.
Carry out timing and costing exercises to support sales quotations and project planning.
Amend and update existing parts, models, and drawings as required.
Produce model files for customers when requested.
Maintain and uphold drawing standards, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and compliance with internal procedures.
Perform quality checks on all drawings, models, and documentation prior to release.
Liaise directly with customers to clarify technical requirements and resolve drawing or specification issues.
Support sales teams by providing technical information and design assistance where required.
Ensure all engineering data and documentation are maintained in an organised and controlled manner.

Skills & Experience

Essential

Experience in a CAD Engineering, Design Engineering, or similar technical role.
Strong understanding of technical drawings, geometric dimensions, and tolerances.
Ability to interpret customer specifications and production requirements.
Experience creating detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings.
Competent in the use of measuring equipment.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
