Extended Schools Manager

Salary: £36,000 per annum

Contract: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Location: Hybrid (Woodley Office / Field-based across Berkshire & surrounding areas)

Role Purpose

The Extended Schools Manager is a key operational role focused on the day-to-day success, quality, and compliance of our uKids wraparound care and holiday camp provisions. This role is split between our head office in Woodley (Reading) and our various school settings. You will work to ensure our high standards are consistently met while supporting frontline staff to deliver exceptional experiences for children. While your primary focus is on our uKids childcare services, you will be an integral part of the wider group and may be called upon to support our other departments when required.

The uGroup

uKids: Childcare provision (Wraparound care and Holiday Camps).
uSports: Specialist sports coaching including school sports provision and holiday camps.
uReach: Our dedicated SEN Alternative Provision.

Core Responsibilities

Quality Assurance & Team Development

Mentorship & Support: Provide hands-on guidance to the delivery team through regular site visits, conducting quality assurance checks to maintain brand excellence.
Remote Advisory: Act as a reliable point of contact for team members, offering expert advice and troubleshooting for daily operational challenges.
Wider Group Support: Provide quality oversight and support across uSports, uKids, and uReach as needed to ensure group-wide standards are met.

Compliance, Planning & Passion

Regulatory Standards: Ensure all uKids provisions meet operational requirements and remain fully Ofsted compliant. You will be responsible for overseeing and leading Ofsted inspections within our core Berkshire and surrounding areas.
EYFS & Beyond: While you will utilise your deep understanding of EYFS, you will also ensure high-quality care for older children (up to ages 14), showing a genuine passion for engaging all age groups.

Commercial Growth & Problem Solving

Value Maximisation: Actively look for opportunities to upsell services and products within partnered settings to support the growth of the provision.
Cancellation Prevention: Identify potential session cancellations early and use effective problem-solving to resolve issues and maintain service stability.

Logistics & Resource Management

Equipment Allocation: Hold accountability for uKids equipment and resource distribution, ensuring every site has the right resources for high-quality delivery.
Coordination: Manage logistics equipment pick-ups and drop-offs with support from the operations team.
Budgeting: Make appropriate, budgeted purchases (with final accountability held by the Finance team).

Session Coverage & Flexible Working

Active Delivery: Maintain a strong presence on the ground by covering sessions as needed. Regular scheduled sessions may be built into your weekly 40-hour schedule.
Flexible Hours: This role requires a flexible approach to cover the full range of services, including Breakfast Clubs, After School Care, and Extended Day Holiday Camps.
Weekend Commitment: Provide on-site presence for weekend setup/pack-up days as required, with the flexibility to adjust your weekday hours in return.

Support Network

You are supported by an extensive head office infrastructure. You will work alongside:

Company Directors: Charlie Hiscox & Steph Hiscox
Specialist Leads: Head of Operations, Head of Finance & Admin, Head of Recruitment, and a dedicated Quality Team.
Support Roles: Additional administrative and logistical staff to assist with the broader needs of the business.

Requirements

Qualifications: Must hold a Level 3 Qualification or higher in Childcare.
Experience: Strong background in wraparound care or holiday camps with deep knowledge of Ofsted and EYFS.
Versatility: A passion for both "Active" and "Creative" activities and the ability to engage children aged from nursery up to 14 years.
Curriculum Delivery: Support the marketing and operations teams in implementing plans that meet our standards for both "Active" and "Creative" activity brackets.
Satellite Support: While we have an Area Manager in Bristol for daily on-site support, you will provide oversight from afar and may occasionally travel to Bristol for high-level support or to assist with Ofsted inspections (though this is rare).
Reliability: Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of early morning and late afternoon provisions.
Driving License: Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle is essential for travel between the Woodley office and sites across Berkshire.

Pay: £36,000.00 per year
