Full job description

Job Title: Senior Legal Assistant (New Homes Purchase Team)

Hours of Work: 09.00 – 17.15 hrs – Monday to Friday (36.25 hours per week).

Salary: £25,650

Location: Grantham (26 Avenue Road, Grantham, Lincolnshire, NG31 6TH)

The role:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Legal Assistant to join our New Homes Purchase Team based in our Grantham office.

We are seeking an individual who ideally holds secretarial qualifications, a degree in Law (desirable), or has equivalent relevant professional experience. Full training will be provided, but a genuine interest in the legal profession is essential.

This role will support our New Homes Purchase Team at our Grantham office and will involve handling new‑build purchase matters alongside routine domestic conveyancing work. The role includes direct client contact, and the Senior Legal Assistant will be expected to deal confidently and professionally with initial client enquiries. They will therefore need to ensure they remain up to date with matters within their areas of responsibility

Key Duties:

To perform all necessary typing/word-processing, accurately and to deadline.
They will be expected to undertake work across all areas of the company and provide cover to other Senior Legal Assistants as directed by the Team Leader.
Maintain high levels of client and company confidentiality.
Transcribe information from manual documents or audio.
Provide support to other offices where capacity allows as directed by the Team Leader.
Take telephone calls on behalf of the fee earners and convey messages in a timely manner.
To arrange appointments as required.
To keep work up-to-date adopting the oldest/most urgent first principle.
To ensure efficient information recorded on the appropriate file management system.
Create and maintain accurate records.
To be flexible and work as a team member.
To provide Reception cover as and when required.

Person Specification

Essential Experience

High level of competency in using Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

Desirable Experience

Experience of working in a law firm.
Competent in using case management systems.
Clear understanding of confidentially/Data Protection.
Typing speed of at least 50 WPM.
