We are seeking a motivated and reliable Food Van Catering Assistant to join our dynamic team. This role involves supporting the preparation and serving of food at various catering events, ensuring a high standard of service and food safety. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Duties
- Assist in food preparation, ensuring all ingredients are ready for service
- Serve food and beverages to customers in a friendly and professional manner
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the van’s kitchen and serving area
- Uphold food safety standards at all times, including proper handling and storage of ingredients
- Manage cash register operations, including basic maths for transactions and change
- Support with setting up and packing down equipment before and after events
- Upsell menu items to maximise sales opportunities during service
- Ensure timely delivery of food services at scheduled events, adhering to time management principles
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operation during busy periods
Qualifications
- Previous experience in food preparation or restaurant service is desirable but not essential
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and practices is preferred
- Basic maths skills for handling transactions accurately
- Experience with kitchen operations or culinary work is advantageous
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively during busy periods
- Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanour when interacting with customers
- Ability to work flexibly, including weekends or evenings if required
- Prior experience in serving or hospitality roles will be considered a plus
