Senior Manufacturing Technician (Milling)

We're looking for a Senior Manufacturing Technician (Milling) to join our growing team in Tadcaster. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled machinist who thrives on precision, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.

What You'll Be Doing

As a senior member of the team, you'll take ownership of both production excellence and technical leadership, including:

Setting up, programming, and operating CNC and manual milling machines
Interpreting technical drawings and executing precise machining operations
Ensuring equipment is calibrated, maintained, and running efficiently
Conducting quality inspections using precision measuring tools
Troubleshooting technical issues and driving machine performance improvements
Monitoring production to ensure on-time, high-quality delivery
Completing key documentation (work orders, inspection reports, maintenance logs)
Collaborating with engineering and production teams to optimise processes
Mentoring junior technicians and supporting team skill development
Leading process improvements to boost productivity and reduce cycle times

What You'll Deliver

High-quality precision parts with minimal defects
Efficient machine setup and repeatable processes
Accurate inspection and quality reports
Improved production performance and machine uptime
Continuous improvement ideas that drive real results

What We're Looking For

Essential:

Strong experience in a machine shop / precision engineering environment
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Expertise working to tight tolerances across various materials (steel, aluminium, etc.)
Experience programming, setting, and operating CNC machines
Qualifications in engineering (Apprenticeship, ONC/HNC) or equivalent experience
Familiarity with controls such as Heidenhain, Mazatrol, or Ultimax

Desirable:

CAD/CAM knowledge
Lean manufacturing / 5S experience
Experience producing bespoke or one-off components
Crane lifting certification

This is more than just a machining role, you'll be a key player in shaping processes, improving performance, and developing others.
