Late Shift General Hand

Monday – Thursday: 14:00 to 22:30
Friday: 13:00 to 20:30
He-Man Dual Controls Ltd is looking to appoint a General Engineering Hand who will be trained to learn all our manufacturing processes for the late shift as part of a team of 3.
Training period will be required during He-Man core hours (07:30-16:00 Mon-Thur, 07:30-15:00 Fri) this may take up to 2 months.
Working at our production facility in Southampton, the successful applicant will be mainly responsible for working in Assembly but will also be trained to work in all areas of production to cover different jobs during holidays.
The candidate will be trained in operating an IPG Photonics SYS-4x4-YLS Lasercube to produce dual controls components from several thicknesses of mild steel sheet metal, operating our Bystronic Xpert 40 folding machine and working in the ‘prep’ area as well as learning the sub assembly and assembly of the dual controls.
The right candidate may not have any machine operator experience but will show the right attitude, drive and willingness to learn and will be taught all the skills required.
The individual should be organised, focused and vigilant about quality and must have personal attributes in line with the company’s Core Employee characteristics (details below).
The ideal candidate would be a self-motivated, detail oriented and adaptable individual that remains calm under pressure.
Manual handling of sheet metal and parts bins is a requirement of this role.
Previous experience is not necessary as full training will be given, however an enthusiastic, can-do attitude, an understanding of H&S procedures and the ability to follow clear instructions is essential.
Responsibilities
- Select program and load relative sheet and cutting profile
- Monitor program in progress and intervene when needed. Eg Remove tipped-up parts, adjust cutting profile to suit material characteristics, fit new lens / nozzle as required
- Unload sheet, break out parts and sort into bins ready to pass on to next stage of production
- Inspect parts and identify quality issues. Identify re-work parts to be nested.
- Carry out daily / weekly maintenance of machine and surrounding area
- Sub-assemble parts in line with production plan
- Fully assemble Dual Controls
- Book on and off jobs
- To support in any other tasks that are required and are within your capabilities
Other tasks to be performed as/when instructed by Manufacturing Team Leader. Including but not limited to:
- Prepping raw material
- Assisting the prep team with basic machine work
- General housekeeping
Essential skills:
- Attention to detail
- Ability to organize tasks in an efficient manner
- Self-reliant, dependable, reliable, resourceful and conscientious.
- Manufacturing / engineering experience is an advantage
- CNC of Sheetmetal is an advantage
- Forklift license is an advantage
- Able to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and colleagues

- Maintain and promote compliance to all SH&E legislation.
