CNC Programmer / Setter / Operator (Fixed Head / Multi-Tasking Lathe)

Location: Ellesmere, Shropshire (SY12)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £30,000 - £45,000 per year (depending on experience)

We are now looking for an experienced CNC Programmer/Setter/Operator to join our skilled manufacturing team.

The Role

We're looking for a skilled CNC Programmer/Setter/Operator with experience of CNC Fixed Head or Multi-Tasking Lathes. Training on specific machines can be provided for the right candidate.

The successful applicant will be responsible for producing high-precision components from a variety of materials, ranging from low to high production volumes while maintaining the highest standards of quality.

Key Responsibilities

Program, set and operate CNC Fixed Head or Multi-Tasking Lathes (Fanuc controls).
Produce first-off components and carry out in-process inspections.
Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
Select suitable tooling, workholding and cutting parameters.
Optimise machining processes and reduce cycle times where possible.
Make tool offset adjustments and carry out routine machine maintenance.
Use precision measuring equipment to ensure components meet specification.
Maintain high housekeeping standards and follow all health and safety procedures.
Work closely with production, engineering and quality teams to support continuous improvement.

Essential Skills & Experience

Previous experience programming, setting and operating CNC Fixed Head or Multi-Tasking Lathes.
Strong understanding of engineering drawings and machining tolerances.
Experience using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers and gauges.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
A commitment to producing work of the highest quality.

Desirable Skills

Experience with Star machines.
Experience using Fanuc or Star controls.
Offline programming using CAD/CAM software.
Experience machining stainless steel, titanium, Inconel and other exotic materials.
