RESPONSIBLE TO - Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENCo)
Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate individual to join our educational team as an Aspiring Teaching Assistant. This position offers a valuable opportunity to gain practical experience supporting children with diverse learning needs. The role is ideal for those interested in pursuing a career in education, special education, or related fields. Successful candidates will work closely with qualified teachers and specialised staff to foster an inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist classroom teachers in delivering engaging lessons and activities tailored to individual student needs
- Support children with special educational needs ensuring they feel included and supported
- Get involved in creating inclusive activities and resources
- Promote independence and employ strategies to recognise and reward achievement of self-reliance
- Help maintain a calm, inclusive, and well-managed learning environment through positive behaviour support strategies
- Provide one-to-one and group support for students who need additional help

Qualifications:
- English and maths qualifications at GCSE grade 4/C or above, or equivalent
- Willingness to undertake further training related to SEND and the UTC environment
- Genuine interest in working with children, particularly those with special educational needs
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, teachers, and parents
- Previous experience in tutoring or mentoring roles is advantageous
- Compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting diverse learners

During the probationary period, support and training will be provided, with the expectation that the successful candidate will progress to independently fulfilling the responsibilities of an experienced Teaching Assistant thereafter. The successful candidate will also be encouraged and supported to complete the Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification through independent study.
