About Us
Total Dog is a professional dog daycare and services facility dedicated to providing exceptional care for dogs. We pride ourselves on knowing what dogs want. With walks, enrichments and decompression time dogs do not find our daycare overwhelming and high energy. We have purpose built living room pods with carpets, sofas, pictures on the wall and even a tv. We have space for our dogs to rest, settle and relax to. There is nothing like this for miles around, it works and it is popular.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Canine Companion to join our daycare team. This is a hands-on role where you'll be responsible for the day-to-day running of our daycare facility, integrating into an already established staff team. Working closely with the Team Leader to feed back to the Business Development Manager, Social Media and Digital Marketer & the CEO on a daily basis to help promote the business.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Excellence
- Oversee all aspects of daily daycare operations from opening to closing
- Help cover staff annual leave
- Maintain the highest standards of health, safety, and cleanliness
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies
Business Performance
- Monitor and maximise daycare capacity and occupancy rates
- Assist in managing bookings efficiently to optimise revenue
- Identify opportunities to increase income and reduce costs
- Work towards achieving and exceeding financial targets
Team Work
- Be comfortable working within a team taking tasks from the Team Leader
- Undertake training, attend appraisals, and performance management reviews
- Foster a positive, professional working attitude
- Handle any issues with professionalism and discretion raising any concerns with management
Customer Service
- Build strong relationships with clients to encourage loyalty and referrals
- Handle customer enquiries, feedback, and concerns effectively, reporting to the Team Lead
- Promote daycare services and support marketing initiatives where appropriate
- Ensure exceptional customer experience at all times
Dog Welfare
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all dogs in our care
- Ability to walk, train and manage a select number of dogs
- Confidence to over see pack behaviours and confidence to deal with any issues should they arise
- Oversee dog assessments, behaviour management, and group dynamics alongside the Team Lead
- Maintain accurate records and incident reports
- Implement and uphold high welfare standards
- Adhere to traffic light system which is already in place
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience within a dog daycare, kennel, or similar animal care environment
- Strong understanding of dog behaviour and welfare
- Excellent team work skills
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to work to targets
- Outstanding organisational and time management abilities
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Confident with IT systems for bookings, scheduling, and reporting
- Physically fit and able to handle dogs of all sizes
- Flexibility and problem-solving mindset
- Minimum Level 3 in Animal Management is essential with dog behaviour to be desired
Desirable
- Qualification in canine behaviour, animal care, or related field
- First aid for dogs certification
- Previous experience in a customer-facing business role
- Excellent record keeping skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment where no two days are the same
