Role: Assistant Director of Finance
Hours: 2/3 days per week (Tuesday and Wednesday office based are essential)
Location: Based at Manchester Head Office, Eccles M30. Some travel to other locations across Halliwell settings across the Northwest and Midlands required. You will not be required to work outside the UK.
Salary: £73,000 - £76,000 pro-rata (dependant on experience and qualifications).

As an Assistant Director of Finance you will be joining the company at an exciting and compelling time.
Halliwell has recently restructured as an Employee Ownership Trust whose mission is to improve the psychological wellbeing of children in the Looked After Children’s sector. Halliwell delivers a Restorative Parenting® Recovery Programme in 8 therapeutic homes and schools across the Northwest and Midlands each with support provided by Halliwell Business and Clinical Teams.
The role of Assistant Director of Finance Halliwell is to work with the Operating Board to deliver the company’s business objectives; lead and develop the Head of Finance and the finance team to effectively support the delivery of Halliwell business plan; and to ensure that the Restorative Parenting® Recovery Programme by is underpinned by effective Finance and IT services.
The main responsibilities for the role will include:
Supporting strategic financial planning: Work with the Operating Board to develop and implement the company's financial strategy to support Halliwell’s business objectives and the delivery of the full EOT to plan.
Financial management: Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and external liaison.
Financial reporting: Ensure timely and accurate financial reports, including statutory accounts and annual reports, are prepared and presented to the operating board, the bank and other external stakeholders.
Risk and compliance: Manage financial risk, insurance, and ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
Team leadership: Lead and develop the Head of Finance and IT / the finance team, managing their performance and providing guidance and support.
Commercial and strategic input: Contribute to commercial negotiations and provide financial analysis and modelling to inform future business strategy.
As Company Secretary: Support the board of directors by ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, organising effective governance frameworks and promoting transparency and accountability.
To assist with any other ad hoc duties commensurate to the job role and pay scale, as directed by the Managing Director.

The successful candidate will have the following Qualifications:
- Recognised professional accountancy qualification (CIMA, ACA, ACCA, CIPFA)
- Registration with a recognised accountancy body such as AAT/ACCA
The successful candidate will have the following Experience:
- Significant experience in senior finance roles both financial and management accounting
- Experience as a member on the senior leadership team with strong business acumen (commercial awareness)
- Leading on managing finance systems and accountancy including cash flow, EBIT, P&L monthly reports
- Experience of leading an operational Finance team in a customer-focused environment.
- Leading, developing and implementing a Finance Strategy to meet regulators, Board and statutory requirements
- Experience managing budgets and maintaining accurate financial information to facilitate effective monitoring to achieve organisation priorities with a focus on value for money and return on investment
