We design and manufacture battery-powered lifting trolleys and handling equipment for industrial applications. Our standard products utilise proven electrical systems, while many customer projects require bespoke control solutions and tailored modifications to meet specific operational needs.
We are looking for a practical, hands-on Controls & Electrical Technician to support the design, build, and commissioning of these special projects.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing electrical solutions for customer-specific requirements, sourcing suitable components, producing wiring documentation, and supporting the build and testing of machines.
This is a varied, multi-disciplinary role combining electrical design, controls engineering, procurement, and workshop-based implementation.
Key Responsibilities
· Understand customer requirements and translate them into practical electrical and control system solutions.
· Specify and source electrical components including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, encoders, relays, contactors and safety devices.
· Configure and program small PLC and HMI systems for bespoke applications.
· Produce electrical schematics and wiring documentation.
· Create bills of materials for special projects.
· Support the assembly and wiring of machines in the workshop.
· Test, commission and troubleshoot electrical systems.
· Assist with the development and improvement of existing products.
· Maintain technical documentation and revision control.
Typical Projects
· Lift-to-height systems using encoders and position feedback.
· Customer-specific control interfaces.
· Additional safety and interlock functions.
· Battery monitoring and system integration.
· Automation and semi-automated operating sequences.
Skills and Experience
Essential:
· Experience with industrial electrical control systems.
· Ability to read and create electrical schematics.
· Experience wiring control panels and machinery.
· Familiarity with PLCs and HMIs.
· Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
· Practical, hands-on approach with good attention to detail.
Desirable:
· Experience with battery-powered equipment, mobile machinery or material handling equipment.
· Knowledge of encoder systems and motion control.
· Experience with low-voltage DC systems (24VDC).
· Familiarity with electrical CAD packages such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN or similar.
· Understanding of machinery safety standards.
· Programming knowledge including ladder logic and flow chart programming.

· Comfortable managing projects from concept through to commissioning.
· Practical problem solver with a hands-on mindset.
· Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with customers, suppliers, and production teams.

Pay: £35,360.00-£37,440.00 per year
