We are looking for a qualified lawyer to join our award winning team to undertake all aspects of Adult Social Care work. You will have a busy, varied and exciting caseload advising clients on all aspects of the Care Act and Mental Capacity Act. A key element of the role is conducting cases in the Court of Protection including advocacy. You will also be required to have conduct of and represent the Council in Inquests and Mental Health Act applications in the County Court.

Contract type: This role is fixed term until 1 May 2027.

About the role

Our team of Adult Social Care lawyers work collaboratively with our client department to ensure the Council's statutory duties to those in our community who have care and support needs, mental health needs and lack capacity to make decisions for themselves, are met.

This role requires fast paced, accurate attention to detail and provision of sound advice and legal support to clients. Experience and knowledge of the application of the Care Act and Mental Capacity Act is required alongside effective communication with clients, the public and other professionals including the Court. Accurate legal research and clear and concise legal drafting is critical in meeting our duties to clients and the Court.

Additional information
Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
