Full job description

Office Administrator

Shepshed Town Council

Hours: 24 hours per week

Working pattern: Monday to Thursday, 9.30 am to 2.30 pm, and Friday, 9.30 am to 1.30 pm. Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the Council, including occasional attendance at Wednesday evening meetings.

Salary: SCP6 (pro rata)

Location: Council Offices, 47A Charnwood Road, Shepshed, Leicestershire, LE12 9QE

Shepshed Town Council is seeking an enthusiastic, organised and reliable Office Administrator to join our small, friendly team.

This is a varied and rewarding role providing administrative support to the Town Clerk, Responsible Financial Officer (RFO), Councillors and Council staff. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for residents and visitors, support Council meetings and communications, maintain accurate records, and assist with a range of office and financial administration duties.

The ideal candidate will have previous office administration experience, excellent organisational and communication skills, strong IT skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. A commitment to providing excellent customer service and maintaining confidentiality is essential. The role also requires occasional attendance at Wednesday evening Council meetings.

The post is offered under the National Association of Local Councils (NALC) Model Contract and National Joint Council (NJC) Green Book terms and conditions, including membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and generous annual leave entitlement.
