Job Specification
To manufacture and weld company products to the required quality standards, working from engineering drawings, work instructions, and guidance provided by the Production Supervisor. The role focuses on producing high-quality welds on fabricated assemblies while ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards, quality requirements, and health and safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out finishing weld operations on fabricated assemblies to the required quality standards.
- Perform specialist TIG welding on stainless steel and aluminium structures, pipework, and components.
- Complete purged-back stainless-steel pipe welding on Schedule 10 pipework, producing root and cap welds in a single pass in accordance with company Work Instructions and ASME IX requirements.
- Weld fabricated box sections and tubular structures to relevant BS EN ISO 9606 standards.
- Undertake general MIG welding on mild steel structures.
- Carry out fabrication, fettling, and associated workshop duties as required.
- Ensure all welding work is completed accurately and efficiently, meeting drawing specifications and quality standards.
- Use a unique welder identification stamp to maintain traceability of completed work.
- Participate in scheduled weld testing and qualification assessments conducted by third-party inspectors to maintain welding approvals and certifications.
- Identify and report any quality issues, defects, or non-conformances to supervision and assist with remedial actions where necessary.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
- Comply with all company Health & Safety policies, procedures, and safe systems of work.
- Take responsibility for personal safety and the safety of colleagues by following company safety rules and reporting hazards promptly.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Essential
- Proven experience in TIG welding stainless steel and/or aluminium components.
- Experience of argon back purging on stainless steel pipework.
- Ability to weld to ASME IX standards.
- Ability to read, interpret, and work from engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Experience using general engineering and fabrication equipment.
- Ability to work accurately with and without jigs and fixtures.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to inspect and monitor own work, identifying defects and reporting issues where corrective action is required.
Desirable
- Current or previous welding qualifications to ASME IX and/or BS EN ISO 9606 standards.
- Experience within a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of quality control and welding inspection requirements.

Working Arrangements
