Job Role
This is an exciting opportunity to work in the brand-new Olympia International Convention Centre. Moreover, this is an opportunity to manage technical aspects of events in the Centre that is full of the latest large format LED screens and cutting-edge technology.
The venue will open with a large variety of spaces and we will provide technical production services to events of all sorts and sizes. These include gala dinners, corporate conferences and sporting events.
This is a diverse role. You will have the chance to increase your AV experience whilst helping to produce fantastic events. Ultimately, your success will be demonstrated by the successful execution and creation of great looking events. As a Senior Technician, you will assist with client liaison and take some responsibility for managing other technicians, freelancers and crew.
You will have to coordinate your activities with several others, and ultimately your performance in this role as part of a production team will enable live events to proceed smoothly and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- You will review jobs with colleagues to ensure that the equipment specified can fulfil requirements
- When required, you will liaise with the client and brief, direct and co-ordinate on-site crew
- You will set up, install and operate equipment on-site at live events
- Assist with the planning and coordination of the rig and de-rig of jobs
- Help maintain the on-site AV equipment and managing a small AV storage area
About you
Have you worked as a technician or senior technician for live events in a previous role? Then this could be the role for you. In addition to the above, to be successful with your application, we would also expect you to have the following:
- Experience of installing, configuring, and problem-solving LED video walls
- Technical competence in sound and/or video for live events with a reasonable understanding of lighting
- Proven experience in technical roles, working within the live events industry, either as an employee or freelancer
- Experience of leading teams and/or crew on jobs
- First class interpersonal skills – especially regarding meeting management and written communications
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work with a variety of professionals from different disciplines producing live events
- Naturally pro-active instincts, with a hunger for inspiring change and operational improvement
- Excellent all-round end-user IT skills
