Help Us Create Safe, Healthy Homes for Our Residents

We are looking for a dedicated and customer-focused Property Condition Housing Officer to join us and play a crucial role in improving housing conditions across our council homes.

In this role, you will manage a designated housing patch and become a visible, trusted point of contact for tenants. You will work closely with surveyors, contractors, housing teams and external partners to ensure concerns like disrepair and mould are addressed, providing practical support to improve tenants quality of life.

You will:

Act as the primary contact for tenants reporting damp, mould, condensation and disrepair concerns.
Supported by a team of surveyors you will visit tenants in their homes to assess issues, provide advice and identify solutions.
Raise and monitor repair work orders through to completion.
Support vulnerable tenants.
Conduct property condition investigations and identify hazards.
Encourage residents to use digital services and support tools.
Maintain accurate records and provide evidence-based reports.
Help deliver the Council's Damp and Mould Strategy to improve housing standards across the borough.

What we are looking for

We are seeking an individual who combines strong customer service skills with a practical understanding of housing and property-related issues.

You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).

You will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check

You will have:

Essential

Experience working directly with customers face-to-face and by telephone.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Strong problem-solving ability and initiative.
Experience managing a varied workload independently.
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to maintain accurate records and databases.
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle with appropriate business insurance.

Desirable

Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience.
Understanding of social housing legislation and consumer standards.
Experience of stakeholder engagement and conflict resolution.
Knowledge of data protection principles and information governance.
Management qualification or equivalent experience.
