Full job description

Slick Transport have the opportunity for an Operations Manager to join our team for July 2026 onwards.

You will oversee 9 delivery routes across Exeter and Bridgewater, ensuring safe, efficient and customer-focused operations while supporting business growth. We provide comprehensive training and offer plenty of support to enable you to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

Manage daily operations across 2 sites with the support of a supervisor and senior management

Lead, support and develop drivers.
Recruit and onboard drivers.
Monitor KPIs and customer service.
Manage compliance, fleet defects and H&S.
Produce operational reports.
Support mobilisation of new routes.

Requirements

- Full UK Driving Licence - held for minimum 1 year with a maximum of 6 penalty points

- English speaking to a competent level and the right to work in UK

- Based within reasonable commuting distance of Exeter (EX5) and Bridgewater (TA6), with the flexibility to travel between sites (45 mins drive) when required.

- Physically fit and able to safely lift and move parcels weighing up to 25kg in line with manual handling guidelines.

- Comfortable using handheld scanning devices and supporting drivers with parcel scanning, sorting and loading activities when required.

- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.

- Proficient in MS Office (particularly Excel, Word and Outlook) and Google Workspace (including Gmail, Google Sheets, Google Docs and Google Drive), with the ability to produce reports, manage operational data and communicate effectively.

- Previous experience in transport, logistics or courier operations.

- Confident leading teams and managing driver performance.
