Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Drivers Mate to join our logistics team. The successful candidate will assist with the safe and efficient delivery of goods, supporting the driver throughout the journey. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in commercial driving and warehouse operations, with a focus on customer service and operational excellence. The position involves working closely with the driver to ensure timely deliveries while maintaining safety standards at all times.
Duties
- Assist the driver with loading and unloading goods at various locations, ensuring items are handled carefully and securely.
- Support the driver in navigating routes, including planning and following delivery schedules.
- Help with securing loads on flatbeds or other transport equipment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Conduct routine checks on delivery vehicles, including mechanical inspections and reporting any issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, including delivery notes and receipts.
- Communicate effectively with clients during deliveries, providing excellent customer service.
- Support warehouse activities such as stock organisation, inventory checks, and preparing goods for dispatch.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and organised work environment within the vehicle and warehouse.
Experience
- Previous experience in delivery driving or warehouse operations is desirable but not essential; training will be provided.
- Knowledge of commercial driving practices and safety regulations is advantageous.
- Experience with flatbed transport or similar cargo handling is beneficial.
- Mechanical knowledge to assist with basic vehicle maintenance or troubleshooting is a plus.
- Proven communication skills to liaise effectively with clients, colleagues, and supervisors.
- Experience in driving delivery vehicles or lorry driving will be considered an asset. Pay: £12.72-£13.71 per hour
