COMMUNITY YOUTH MENTOR

Contract Length: 2 Years, fixed-term

Contract Hours: 35 hours

Start Date: 17th August 2026

Location: Bradford City FC Community Foundation & schools in the surrounding area

Reporting To: Head of Premier League and Sport Development

Salary/Hourly Pay: £24,042

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Community Youth Mentor will be responsible for the delivery and reporting of BCFCCF’s PL Inspires programme and other mentoring provisions, helping to create meaningful opportunities and pathways for young people aged 11-18 years old. The candidate will be expected to deliver high-quality personal development sessions to young people in both group and 1-to-1 settings, using the power of the Bradford City FC and Premier League brand to inspire participants to reach their potential. The candidate will be expected to deliver mentoring sessions in primary school settings, where required, as part of funded provisions.

They will work collaboratively with the Head of Premier League and Sport Development to contribute to the project’s strategy and growth.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Delivery

To plan, deliver and evaluate mentoring sessions, themed workshops and activities in secondary schools and colleges across Bradford for the PL Inspires project and other mentoring provisions
Support young people with a variety of risk factors, who may face barriers to learning, building rapport through empathy, care and trust
Ensure an excellent standard of delivery throughout all sessions, covering a wide range of personal development topics
Ensure a weekly registration is taken of participants names and uploaded to Salesforce
Embrace the Foundation’s policies on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and ensure these are embedded within practice
Collect impact evidence, case studies and assist with the writing of reports for the Premier League Charitable Fund and the Foundation

Partnerships & Community Engagement

Create strong relationships with partner schools to ensure the continuity and sustainability of the project
Develop positive relationships with school partners, participants, and partner agencies to foster collaboration and trust.
Support marketing and communication efforts to raise awareness of community programmes and opportunities.

Operations & Compliance

Support the monitoring and evaluation of the project, through collection and analysis of questionnaire data
To provide frequent updates of project KPIs to the Head of PL and Sport Development
Report and incidents involving staff and/or participants in BCFCCF activities to CPOMS
To be mindful of all laws that govern our work, health and safety rules, all safeguarding, GDPR and data protection rules and all aspects of the Equality Act 2010

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential:

Maths and English GCSE or equivalent
A background in youth work, mentoring or youth development
Experience working with young people facing barriers to participation or learning
Experience delivering learning or development programmes that engage school pupils
The ability to build good working relationships with young people and school staff
A passion for community work with the capability to inspire and motivate young people
Excellent organisational, planning and oracy skills
Ability to manage groups of young people with challenging behaviour
Ability to carry out administrative duties frequently and effectively
Strong understanding of safeguarding and health and safety policies in an education/youth work setting
Experience working within diverse communities
Full, clean driving licence
An understanding of the secondary school education system in Bradford and the current demands

Desirable:

Level 2 Youth Work qualification
Level 2 Mentoring qualification
UEFA C license
Educated to degree level in relevant subject
In-date Emergency First Aid Award and Safeguarding Children Award
Experience of working in a secondary school setting
Behaviour/conflict management training
Excellent IT skills with a proficiency in Excel, Word etc.
Prior experience of successful project coordination
