Tungsten West plc is bringing the world-class Hemerdon Tungsten-Tin Mine in South Devon back into production.
As the 100% owner of the Hemerdon Mine, we are restarting one of the world's largest tungsten resources to help meet the growing global demand for critical minerals used in modern technology.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the team responsible for the mine restart, supporting the rebuild, commissioning and ramp-up through to full production.

About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Mobile Plant Electrician to inspect, maintain, diagnose and repair the electrical and electronic systems on a wide range of heavy mobile mining equipment.
You'll play a key role in ensuring the reliability, safety and availability of our mobile fleet by delivering high-quality electrical maintenance in line with OEM standards and site procedures.
What You'll Be Doing
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on electrical systems across mobile plant.
- Diagnose and repair electrical, electronic and control system faults.
- Repair and replace wiring looms, lighting systems, sensors, control modules and safety systems.
- Install new electrical components as required.
- Complete all work to OEM specifications and company standards.
- Use diagnostic software and specialist equipment to identify faults.
- Troubleshoot CANBUS systems, control circuits and electronic management systems.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
- Investigate recurring faults and contribute to root cause analysis.
Safety Responsibilities
Safety is at the heart of everything we do.
You'll be expected to:
- Follow all site health, safety and environmental procedures.
- Comply with isolation and Lock Out, Tag Out, Try Out (LOTOTO) procedures.
- Ensure all electrical work meets statutory requirements and site standards.
- Maintain safe working practices in both workshop and field environments.
- Report hazards, near misses and incidents promptly.
Reliability & Continuous Improvement
- Help improve equipment reliability and reduce electrical failures.
- Identify potential faults before failure through inspections and testing.
- Work closely with planners and supervisors to improve maintenance strategies.
- Complete accurate maintenance records using the site's CMMS.
- Support continuous improvement across the maintenance team.
Teamwork
You'll work alongside mechanical technicians, supervisors and operations teams to keep the mine operating safely and efficiently.
Your role will also include:
- Carrying out repairs in both the workshop and across the mine site.
- Responding quickly to production-critical electrical breakdowns.
- Maintaining tools, diagnostic equipment and work areas.
- Providing clear updates on equipment status and repair progress.
What We're Looking For Essential
- Proven experience as an electrician working on heavy mobile plant or similar equipment.
- Strong knowledge of 12V, 24V and higher voltage electrical systems.
- Experience fault finding and diagnosing modern mobile plant, lighting rigs, generators and water pumps.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
- Strong understanding of health and safety within high-risk industrial environments.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
Desirable
- NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent electrical qualification.
- Experience working on Komatsu, Caterpillar, Hitachi, Volvo or other OEM equipment.
- Knowledge of CANBUS systems and electronic control systems.
- Basic mechanical knowledge of heavy mobile plant.
- Experience using CMMS systems such as SAP, Maximo or Pronto.
- High Voltage (HV) or specialist electrical training.
- Full UK driving licence (HGV/Category C is an advantage).
- First Aid certification.
