SSL is recruiting for a full time Waste Manager working a total of 37.5 hours per week
The role reports into the Head of Facilities Support Services & responsible for Waste Management, Reduction, Recycling, and Education
Be the Professional Topic Lead and Advisor for Waste Management and related services.
Oversee (including supplier), waste management systems and services and work with internal and external stakeholders, to ensure that they provide; or are enabled to provide; continuous Legal, Regulatory or other relevant waste management compliance.
Advise the Trust of any changes to waste, environmental and other relevant legislation, Regulations or best practice, as they relate to Trust waste management services.

Develop a positive dialogue and technical working relationships with waste management colleagues from other NHS organisations including NHSE.
Attend, Contribute and Deputise for the HOFSS as Chair of the Trust Waste Management Group. Work with service leads and operational managers to understand their services, their waste management and related requirements and any challenges presenting themselves.
Work closely with the Head of Sustainability to ensure waste management services support the Trust's sustainability goals and ambitions.
Work closely with the SFM Service Improvement Manager and other stakeholders to develop the use of technology and software solutions and the collection of performance data for waste management and related services.
Develop professional working relationships with waste management and other relevant vendors.
Attend relevant meetings, seminars and presentations etc. within the NHS and/or external service providers and expand your network with professional colleagues, bodies, providers and advisors.
Ensure reports/findings are prepared, collated and presented relevant to their audience and these are effectively communicated using various mediums.
Organise and/or attend meetings/workshops etc., deliver briefings and provide training sessions to raise awareness, educate and gather support for waste management and related services.
Evidence of Qualifications required
Educated to Degree level; or equivalent qualification; in a relevant topic (Waste Management, Environmental Management etc.) or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through any combination of alternative study and/or employment experience.
Formal project management qualification e.g. PRINCE 2 (practitioner level).
Member of a relevant professional body (IEM.A, IHEEM, EMA, CIBSE, CIWM).
Project and/or Programme management qualified;
Completion of Leadership development training and management qualification. PGDipM or equivalent;
Evidence of continuing professional development;
Has successfully delivered significant systems and/or operational change, whilst maintaining high standards of quality output from services managed.
Able to conceive and develop projects to improve efficiency.
Has gathered, collated and analysed data from multiple sources.
Able to translate analytical data/results into meaningful performance and business reports.
Has been responsible for service planning and modelling.
Experience in stakeholder engagement and behaviour change
Able to prepare technical specifications.
Worked in a large complex organisation such as NHS hospital environment or equivalent.
Overseen services and/or projects within the NHS or similar environment.
Worked on projects from business cases development through to delivery.
Has delivered and developed internal system and/or service audits.
Has provided workshop and other training at various levels of organisation.
Has been involved in service and/or product procurement, monitoring and management.
Industry standard experience of best practice and VFM assessment;
Experience of leading and implementing change in a complex environment;
Has authored strategy, policy, process and technical documents and authorised the same for others.
Has been involved in business planning and in the development and effective implementation of strategic plans, together with skill mix reviews.
Understanding of principles, methods, techniques, and tools for effective service, project and contract management, service reviews and quality improvement.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio & Outlook).
Detailed understanding of Healthcare Waste Management Legislation, Regulations, requirements, processes and challenges.
