We are looking for a highly motived Radiographer / Specialist Radiographer to work in our busy Cardiology & Radiology Theatre Complex in York Hospital. York is a wonderful city within North Yorkshire, an area renowned for its beaches, National Parks, and history.
This role is suitable either for experienced Interventional Radiographers as a Band 6, or for those new to the modality or newly qualified, where full training to the level of Specialist will be given as a Band 5 (with uplift to Band 6 after successful completion of the Band 5 - 6 run-through competency process).
We are due to open our Cardiology and Radiology Theatre complex, with 4 labs containing new GE Allia systems. We will continue to provide an interventional, vascular and cardiology service for a large population, and our dedicated Radiologists, Cardiologists and Vascular Surgeons undertake a wide range of examinations and procedures.
We are a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team who provide a high quality, interventional radiology, vascular and cardiology service. We are friendly and inclusive with a great skill mix which helps us support each other to provide excellent patient centred care.
You will be joining us at an exciting time, and with our new CART complex we are driving forward to deliver a modern, efficient interventional, vascular and cardiac service for patients in the region.
As part of the interventional radiology team, you will be required to work flexibly throughout Cardiology & Radiology Theatres providing high quality imaging for cardiac (including coronary angiography, PCI, IVUS and pacing) and vascular and non-vascular intervention (including femoral angiography, EVAR, embolisation, nephrostomy, drainages and line insertion).
We also support our nursing and administrative colleagues and clinicians where required. Once fully trained you will be expected to participate in the on-call rota, which provides a service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and will need to live within 60 minutes of York Hospital.
We are a forward-thinking department that values our staff and we are committed to advanced practice with a number of Radiographers currently undertaking extended roles including cannulation and informed consent. As a department we encourage the progression of our Radiographers to develop from a Band 5 (Preceptor) to Band 6 (Specialist), via a supported competency-based run through.
We currently welcome students from the Universities of Leeds and Hull. Staff are given training and support to become mentors and assessors.
