Groundworker / 360 Excavator Operator
(Groundworks & Landscaping)
Pay: £22.00 per hour CIS (depending on experience)
About the Role
Pickersgill Groundworks and Landscapes Ltd are a growing business based in the Ripon area. We are looking to recruit an experienced Groundworker with 360 Excavator experience to join our team for an immediate start (subject to interview).
This role is ideal for someone who is just as comfortable on the ground carrying out all aspects of groundworks as they are operating a 360 machine when required.
This is a full-time position offered on a permanent or CIS basis.
Self-employed applicants will also be considered.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience in groundworks (minimum 5 years preferred)
- Competent and confident operating 360 excavators on site
- Valid CPCS or NPORS 360 Excavator ticket (essential)
- CSCS card (required)
- Streetworks / SMSTS (advantageous but not essential)
- Full, clean UK driving licence (required)
- Trailer licence (desirable)
Your Role
You will be working as part of a small team delivering a range of groundwork and landscaping projects, with a balance of hands-on groundworks and machine operation.
Groundworks duties will include:
- Deep drainage and pipe laying
- Foundations and footings
- Kerbing, concreting, and finishing works
- Plot works and site preparation
- Working from drawings and setting out (where required)
Machine work will include:
- Operating 360 excavators for:
- Trenching and backfilling
- Drainage and service installation
- Footings and foundations
- Roads & sewers
- Safe excavation around live services
You will also be expected to:
- Assist the team in all aspects of groundwork when not on the machine
- Carry out daily machine checks and basic maintenance
- Work safely and efficiently to a high standard
Skills & Attributes
- Strong all-round groundworks experience
- Good level of machine control and awareness
- Solid understanding of site safety and excavation risks
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Reliable, hardworking, and adaptable
