Full job description

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Inventory Planning & Stock Forecasting Manager to oversee stock forecasting, inventory control, purchasing planning, and international shipment coordination for our growing online retail business.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the business maintains optimal stock levels while managing incoming container shipments from China and coordinating supply chain operations efficiently.

This role is ideal for someone with strong experience in inventory management, demand forecasting, supplier coordination, and international freight logistics within an e-commerce or retail environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesInventory Planning & Stock Forecasting

Analyse sales trends, stock movement, and demand forecasts to maintain accurate inventory levels
Plan and manage stock replenishment to avoid shortages and overstocking
Monitor fast-moving and slow-moving inventory across all sales channels
Develop forecasting strategies based on seasonal demand, promotions, and marketplace performance
Maintain accurate stock records and inventory reporting systems

Purchasing & Supplier Coordination

Plan and place purchase orders with suppliers based on stock forecasts and sales performance
Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely production and dispatch of goods
Build and maintain strong relationships with overseas manufacturers and suppliers
Negotiate pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules where required

International Shipping & Container Management

Manage international shipments and container logistics from China to the UK
Coordinate shipping schedules, freight forwarders, customs clearance, and warehouse deliveries
Track inbound shipments and ensure accurate documentation for imports
Monitor shipping costs, lead times, and container planning to support business operations
Resolve shipping delays, stock issues, and supply chain challenges proactively

Stock Control & Warehouse Coordination

Monitor inventory accuracy and stock control procedures
Work closely with warehouse teams to ensure smooth goods receiving and stock allocation
Investigate stock discrepancies and implement corrective actions
Improve inventory processes and operational efficiency

Reporting & Business Support

Produce regular inventory, forecasting, and stock performance reports
Provide insights and recommendations to improve stock availability and cash flow
Support operational planning and business growth strategies
Work closely with management to improve supply chain and inventory systems

Essential Requirements

Proven experience in stock forecasting, inventory planning, or supply chain management
Strong experience managing container shipments and imports from China
Knowledge of international shipping, freight processes, and customs coordination
Experience using inventory management and stock control systems
Strong analytical and organisational skills
Ability to manage multiple suppliers, shipments, and deadlines efficiently
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
Experience within e-commerce, online retail, or marketplace businesses preferred

Preferred Skills

Experience with online marketplaces
Understanding of warehouse operations and fulfilment processes
Advanced Excel and reporting skills
Commercial awareness and ability to improve operational efficiency

Pay: £27,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
