An exciting new opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Psychologist to work within LYPFT's Complex Psychosis Pathway, specifically working in the level 1 rehab inpatients service. The successful applicant will join a team of two qualified Clinical Psychologists and a Consultant Clinical Psychologist. There is ongoing work to develop and embed psychological provision across the two wards working closely with the MDT. Our intention is to deliver psychologically informed interventions with compassion to help people recover and regain independence. There is a good governance and leadership structure across the wards.
The Complex Psychosis Pathway provides a whole system approach to Mental Health Rehabilitation and Assertive Community Treatment in Leeds, which includes Newsam Ward 5 (Level 2 Rehab & relocating to Parkside Lodge), Asket Croft and Asket House inpatient settings, (Level 1 Rehab), the Community Rehabilitation Team and Assertive Outreach Team. The pathway also includes Community Rehabilitation practitioners embedded within the Community Hubs providing early rehabilitative and reablement interventions and enabling transitions for service users between Community Services and more intensive Assertive Outreach and Community Rehabilitation Support. These are clinical delivery services.

The post holder will support and enhance the psychological provision available to service users with unusual experiences across the two wards in level 1 rehab inpatient services, under the supervision of a team psychologist.
To work with support according to a plan of evaluation agreed with a practitioner Psychologist and within the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures. To assist in related administration, collection of statistics, conduct of audits, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work. The post holder will work closely with the psychology team and the MDT.

We also provide specialist inpatient services in York and some highly specialised services across the country. Applicants should be aware that individuals requiring a visa to work in the UK, the Trust only provides sponsorship for registered healthcare practitioner roles (this does not include Healthcare Support Workers) . This is an essential requirement, and the Trust is unable to offer you a role if you do not meet Trust requirements for sponsorship and Home Office requirements for a visa.
The pathway includes an out of area /Trust case management role and mental health placement reviewer for people with complex psychosis who are placed in Level 2 rehabilitation Independent Hospitals outside of the Trust or in funded residential placements.
In addition, Leeds Recovery College, Arts and Minds and the Volunteers Service are included within the pathway, providing innovative networks supporting social inclusion and a recovery ethos, while continuing to serve the citywide populations of Leeds, LYPFT and care services directorates.
The pathway provides treatment, intervention and vocational opportunities for people and their families living with complex needs, associated with psychosis and with significant reductions in quality of life, described within NICE guidance as “severe and treatment resistant symptoms”. Many people also experience other serious and co - occurring conditions that severely affect activities of daily living, social functioning, physical health, welfare, and limit vocational opportunities. The pathway provides a strong recovery ethos, with flexibility for differing levels of need and longer term support where necessary, and in the least restrictive environment possible. The pathway aims to provide a whole person approach working together with individuals and their families on agreed goals that improve mental and physical health, welfare, social inclusion and psychological wellbeing that maximises independence and quality of life.
You must have a degree eligible to hold Graduate Basis Chartered Membership (GMC) with the BPS to be offered this post.
