Job description

Has studying geography at school or college inspired you to utilise this subject in your career? If so, IIC Technologies currently has entry-level roles for aspiring GIS specialists on an existing digital land mapping project.

Job Summary

IIC Technologies is a global provider of Geospatial solutions and services, supporting governments worldwide through the provision of a wide range of specialist services. This includes the supply of mapping and charting products for situational awareness and to aid decision-making both on land and at sea. As part of our team you will work on a GIS Data Capture project which will involve some of the following:

GIS Digitisation using ArcGIS, QGIS or other GIS software.
Interpretation of Satellite Imagery, aerial photography or other source imagery and data.
Preparing and analysing incoming source data.
Handling and interpretation of confidential information.
Creation and update of digital map databases and products.
Carrying out tasks required of the project, within the time restraints and to specification.
Providing information on project/task status to your line manager, and completion of timesheets/MIS software, as required.
General duties required by the project, including packaging, upload and dispatch of products.
Participating fully in any training offered to ensure that knowledge remains current and relevant.

We are looking to expand our current team and are ideally looking for candidates who can start within 1 month of appointment.

Security Requirements :

A criminal record check will be completed for all successful candidates. In addition, successful candidates must meet our Client’s security requirements. Due to the security classification of the data used on our projects you will be required to work at our York office. We are very happy to discuss flexible working, including the possibility of reduced hours, flexible start and finish times.

Experience

A demonstrable interest in geography, geology, environmental science, map reading or mapping is highly desirable, for example participation in Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme expeditions. Minimum GCSE geography at grade 6/B or above is mandatory. A level or equivalent is desirable.
